What this does
Everything that applies to the whole store rather than to one order or product.
Before you start
Owner or admin permissions. Some sections are owner only.
Steps
- Open Settings.
- Pick a section. They are grouped four ways: - Store — General, Brand & storefront, Domains, Checkout. - Operations — Payments, Shipping & fulfillment, Taxes, Costs & profit, Customers & accounts, Email & notifications. - Organization — Team & security, Integrations, Billing. - Advanced — data exports, visitor consent, API keys, webhooks, the change log and store actions.
- Can't see which section holds a setting? Type what you want into the search box at the top of Settings — it searches individual controls, not just page names, and takes you straight to the one you meant.
- Changes save per section.
Your policies are not in Settings. Shipping, returns, privacy and terms are storefront pages, so you write them in Storefront → Policies.
What happens next
Some settings change what customers see immediately — your policies, your handling time, your free shipping threshold. Others only affect what happens next, like your returns window, which applies to returns opened from now on.
Common problems
I cannot see a section. It is owner only and you are an admin.
I changed my currency and old orders look odd. Orders keep the currency they were placed in. Changing the store currency affects new orders.
Can I change what customers see after they order? Yes. Settings → Checkout has two messages of your own: Before payment shows on the checkout page, and On the confirmation shows on the page a customer sees once their order is placed, for example how long you take to ship or where to find their certificate.
My policies are empty. They live in Storefront → Policies, not Settings. Torva can write starter versions for you to edit. They are a starting point, not legal advice.
Still stuck?
Ask Torva from inside your account. It knows everything in this article and can also see what your own store is currently doing, so it can answer for your situation rather than in general.
