Erase or export a customer's data
Honour a GDPR or CCPA request without destroying the order history your books depend on.

What this does
Exports everything you hold about one customer, or erases their personal details while leaving the order record itself intact.
Before you start
- Owner permissions.
- The customer's email address, and enough confidence that the person asking is really them.
Steps
- Open Settings and find Privacy.
- Enter the customer's email address.
- Choose Export to produce a file of what you hold, or Erase.
- Confirm.
What happens next
An erasure removes the personal details — name, email, address, phone — and leaves the order, its lines and its totals. Your revenue figures do not change and your accountant still has the records they need.
The erasure itself is written to your activity history, because being able to show you honoured a request is part of honouring it.
Common problems
Erasing did not remove the order. Correct, and deliberate. Deleting orders would rewrite your sales history.
I erased the wrong customer. It cannot be undone. That is what the confirmation is for.
