Your logo, colours and how your store looks when it is shared

What this does

Settings → Brand holds your identity: the things that stay the same wherever they appear. Studio decides how your pages are arranged; this decides what your store is called and what it looks like doing it.

Everything here follows you across your storefront, your receipts, your customer accounts and your partner portal, so setting it once is enough.

Before you start

Have your logo to hand in two shapes. A wide one for headers, and a square one for the places a wide logo will not fit — mobile, email, customer accounts and the partner portal. A transparent PNG or an SVG works best.

If you have neither yet, that is fine. Until you add a logo your store name is shown as text, which looks deliberate rather than broken.

Steps

  1. Store display name — what your store is called, everywhere. A tagline is optional; some themes use it in headers and link previews.
  2. Brand colours — two, and only two. A primary for headings, solid buttons and the compact mark, and an accent for links and highlights. Your theme works out the rest of the palette from them, which is why they survive a theme change.
  3. Header logo — wide and transparent.
  4. Compact mark — square. This is the one that ends up in small places.
  5. Favicon — the small icon in a browser tab. Square, 32×32 or larger.
  6. Social share image — what people see when somebody shares a link to your store. 1200×630 works on every platform.

The favicon and the social image never appear on your storefront. They appear around it — in a browser tab, and in someone else's feed.

What happens next

Changes are saved to your draft and go live with your next storefront publish, in the same way page edits do. The previews beside the favicon and social image fields show what each one will look like before you publish.

Your time zone lives in Settings → General, not here. It decides how every date and time in Desk is shown to you — order timestamps, reports, scheduled sends — so it is worth setting before you read anything with a date on it.

Common problems

My logo looks wrong in the header. It is probably not transparent, or it is square. A header wants a wide, transparent image; a square one gets letterboxed into the space available.

Nothing changed on my live store. Brand edits go out with a publish, like every other storefront change. Publish from Storefront.

The share preview is still the old image. Facebook, LinkedIn and Slack each cache link previews for their own reasons and their own length of time. The preview on this page is what Torva is serving; the delay is at the other end.

I want to change my fonts or my homepage layout. That is Studio, not here. This page owns your identity; Studio composes the pages it appears on.
