GLOSSARY · PAYMENTS

What is Cash App for business?

Cash App for business is a Cash App account set up to receive payments for goods and services, identified by a $cashtag, which a store can offer as a manual pay-by-app method at checkout.

What it means for a research store

Cash App distinguishes personal accounts from business accounts, and business accounts carry a fee on incoming payments. Its terms restrict certain business types, so read the current terms before offering it. Customers pay the store’s $cashtag from their own app, and the store confirms receipt before fulfilling.

Like other pay-by-app methods, Cash App payments to a store are not integrated into a card-style checkout for small merchants. The customer leaves the checkout, opens the app, sends the payment and returns. Clear instructions, a QR code and a required order reference in the note make that journey workable.

Offer it alongside, not instead of, a documented process: hold orders as awaiting payment, match each payment to its order reference, set a payment deadline, and record who confirmed each payment. Treat screenshots from customers as a prompt to check your account, not as proof of payment.

How Torva OS handles it

Torva OS shows Cash App instructions and a QR code at checkout and holds the order as awaiting payment until the merchant confirms it in the Desk.
