GLOSSARY · PAYMENTS

What is Venmo for business?

Venmo for business is a Venmo business profile that receives payments for goods and services, subject to a per-transaction fee, which some stores offer as a manual pay-by-app method.

What it means for a research store

Venmo separates personal payments between friends from payments for goods and services. Businesses are expected to use a business profile, and incoming goods-and-services payments carry a seller fee. Venmo’s terms and its parent company’s acceptable use policy apply, and certain product categories are restricted, so check them before offering it.

At checkout the store shows its Venmo handle, a QR code and the amount, and asks the customer to include the order number in the note. The order stays unpaid until the merchant sees the payment and confirms it. Because the customer leaves the checkout to pay, some orders will be started and never paid; a reminder email and a clear deadline recover many of them.

Keep records: which orders were paid by Venmo, the transaction identifier and who confirmed it. That makes refunds and bookkeeping straightforward and protects the store if a payment is later disputed.

How Torva OS handles it

Torva OS supports Venmo alongside Zelle and Cash App with checkout instructions, a QR code and a confirmation step in the Desk.
