Case study

The store Torva was built for, scored by Torva.

We ran Torva's compliance rules against Arctic Lab Supply — the research-supply store Torva was built to run — and published the result as measured: 65 out of 100, with every finding.

Key takeaways

  • Arctic Lab Supply is the research-supply store Torva was built to run. It is not hosted on Torva — it runs on its own custom platform — which is why its compliance score is worth publishing.
  • Scored 65 out of 100 on 13 pages and 24 products: 1 critical, 2 high and 4 medium findings.
  • Zero naming, claims or imagery findings across all 24 products — because Torva's product-naming rules were written from this store's own conventions.
  • Every one of the seven findings is something a Torva build handles before you see the preview.
  • The same rules run on any store you paste in. Build a preview free and see your own.

Why this is the case study

Most platforms open a case study with a customer and a percentage. We are days old, so we do not have one of those yet, and inventing it is not an option. What we do have is the store this whole system was written for.

We run Arctic Lab Supply, a research-supply store in Anchorage, Alaska. Torva began as the software we built to run it, after several years of the same problems every store in this category hits: processors that decline the vertical, ad accounts disabled over ordinary category language, compliance rules nobody publishes, and general-purpose ecommerce software that has never heard of a certificate of analysis.

So instead of a testimonial, here is something more useful and harder to fake: Torva's compliance rules, run against arcticlabsupply.com, with the output printed as measured. Including what fails.

  • Arctic Lab Supply does not run on Torva. It is a live store on its own custom platform. Nothing here is a migration result.
  • The score is not curated. It is what the engine returned on 2026-09-25. We did not fix the store first.
  • The rules are not a marketing version of the rules. They are the same functions that decide what a Torva build publishes.

The result: 65 out of 100

The scan read 13 pages — the home page, the catalog, six product pages, three policy pages and the cart — and 24 products. It returned 7 findings.

A store in the sixties is a normal research-supply store that has not been rebuilt. That is the point of printing the number: it is roughly what your own store is likely to score, and it is the gap a Torva build closes.

The part that passed, and why it is the origin story

The naming rules are the ones a processor declines fastest, and they are the ones this store passes completely. All 24 product titles are already in a code style rather than a compound name, and the diluent is listed as Reconstitution Solution rather than under its pharmaceutical name. Zero findings in naming, zero in claims, zero in imagery.

That is not a coincidence and it is not us grading ourselves generously. Those conventions are where Torva's naming rules came from. The engine even detected which of the three code styles the store uses and would have written every suggestion in that style rather than its own — a detail that exists because we needed it, on this store, before Torva had users.

It is the most direct evidence we can offer for the claim on the front page: this was built from inside the category, not adapted to it from outside.

All 7 findings, and what a Torva build does

Worst first, as the engine ordered them. The right-hand column is not aspiration: each one is behaviour a Torva build ships with, which is why the store Torva was built for scores lower than a store built by Torva.

What the scan is, and what it is not

The scan reads the text a reviewer would read on the pages a reviewer would open. It is a fetch of about a dozen public documents, at two requests at a time, identifying itself honestly. It does not log in, does not place an order and does not read anything a visitor could not.

It cannot read the label printed inside a photograph, and it does not know your jurisdiction. A compliance score is evidence to act on, not a legal opinion or a promise about an underwriting decision, and every payment provider still makes its own call.

  • Reads: product titles and descriptions, page and policy copy, image file names and alt text, the entry gate, the checkout, contact details.
  • Does not read: anything behind a login, the text inside an image, your order history, your processor’s view of you.
  • Does not decide: whether a product is legal to sell, or whether a processor will approve you.

Run it against your own store

Paste your address at Build my store free and Torva reads your site the same way, then builds a research-ready store from what it found — your products, your photos, your COA links — with the gate, factual product identification, the claim review and the policy pages already in place. The preview is free and needs no card, so you can see the fixed version of your own store before deciding anything.

If you would rather read about the mechanics first, what processors look for in your policies covers the findings above the naming line, and moving a research store to Torva covers what does and does not transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Is Arctic Lab Supply built on Torva?

No, and that is deliberate in this write-up. It is a live store on its own custom platform, which is why its score is a fair illustration of what an ordinary research-supply store scores rather than a demonstration of a finished Torva build.

Did you pick a flattering score?

No. It is the single result the engine returned on 2026-09-25, 65 out of 100, with 7 findings including a critical one. A curated number would have defeated the purpose of publishing it.

Is this the same engine that runs on my store?

Yes. The rules that scored this site are the same functions that decide what a Torva build publishes — the naming rules, the claim pass, the gate detection and the policy review. That is the reason the comparison means anything.

Does a good score mean a processor will approve me?

No. It means the things processors decline for most often are not on your site. The approval decision belongs to each provider, and no platform can promise one.

Will you publish a customer case study instead?

When there is a real one to publish, with the store owner’s permission and real figures. Until then this is the honest version, and we would rather run the scan on ourselves than write a testimonial nobody gave us.
