Reorder stock and track purchase orders
Set the level at which a variant should be reordered, see what to buy, and record stock that is on the way so you never order it twice.

What this does
Answers the two questions that follow a stock take: what should I buy, and what have I already bought that has not arrived yet.
Before you start
- Variants with inventory tracking switched on.
Steps
- Set a reorder point on a variant: the level that means act, and the level to order back up to.
- Open Products → Purchasing. Anything at or below its reorder point appears under What to reorder.
- Tick the lines you want and select Draft. Torva makes one draft order per supplier, because a purchase order is something you send to one company.
- Review the draft, then select Mark as ordered.
- When the delivery arrives, select Receive and enter how many of each actually turned up.
What happens next
An order marked as ordered counts as stock on the way, and is subtracted from future suggestions — that is what stops you ordering the same thing twice a week apart.
Receiving raises stock through the same ledger every other change uses, so the delivery appears in each variant's adjustment history beside stock takes and returns, with the purchase order reference on it.
Common problems
The suggested quantity is smaller than I expected. Stock already on order has been subtracted. The "On order" column shows how much.
Nothing appears under what to reorder. Nothing is being watched yet, or everything watched is above its level. Set a reorder point on a variant first.
Only part of the delivery arrived. Enter what actually came. The rest stays outstanding on the order and is still counted as on the way.
I cannot edit an order. Only drafts can be rewritten. Once it is sent, the order is a record of what you asked for.
Reorder to must be at least reorder at. Ending up with less stock than the level that triggered the order would make it immediately due again.
Still stuck?
Ask Torva from inside your account. It knows everything in this article and can also see what your own store is currently doing, so it can answer for your situation rather than in general.
