Record what your products cost you

What this does

Records what each variant costs you, so revenue figures can become profit figures.

Before you start

Your cost per unit for each variant.

Steps

1. Open Analytics and find the costs section.
2. Enter a cost per variant, or import them from a file.
3. Costs are dated, so changing one does not rewrite what past orders cost you.

What happens next

Orders placed from now on carry the cost that applied on their date. Contribution appears in Analytics once enough orders are costed.

Common problems

Contribution only covers some orders. Torva only counts orders it can fully cost. The coverage figure says how many that is.

I changed a cost and old orders changed too. They should not — costs are held by date. If they did, the cost was entered without one.

Processor fees are missing. Where they are not known exactly they are estimated, and Analytics marks which orders are estimates.
