What this does
Groups products so customers can browse them together. Your catalog page lists everything you sell; a collection is how you arrange it — "Peptides", "New in", "Under $50".
Before you start
- At least one product to put in a collection.
Steps
- Open Products → Collections.
- Select New collection.
- Give it a title. The web address is made from the title unless you set your own.
- Tick the products that belong in it.
- Leave it as Draft while you arrange it, or set it to Active when customers should see it.
- Save.
What happens next
An active collection is browsable by customers. A draft is yours alone, so you can arrange one over a week and publish it when it is ready.
Membership is a list you arrange, never a rule. Torva will not add products to a collection on its own — a window display that rearranges itself overnight is not a display.
Common problems
It says the web address is already used. Another collection has that slug. Two collections at one address would be one collection nobody can reach, so change it.
A product is in two collections. That is fine and normal — a product can be in as many as you like.
I deleted a collection and want my products back. They were never gone. Deleting a collection removes the arrangement, never the products in it.
Customers cannot see it. Check it is Active rather than Draft, and that the products inside it are active too — a draft product stays hidden wherever it is placed.
Still stuck?
Ask Torva from inside your account. It knows everything in this article and can also see what your own store is currently doing, so it can answer for your situation rather than in general.
