What is batch shipping?

Batch shipping is fulfilling many orders together, selecting them as a group, picking stock once and buying and printing all their shipping labels in one step.

What it means for a research store

Buying labels one order at a time is slow once a store ships more than a handful of parcels a day. Batch shipping groups ready orders (paid, in stock, address validated), applies a default service and package, and buys the labels together. Exceptions such as oversized orders or special services are handled separately.

The discipline that makes batching safe is filtering. Only paid orders should enter a batch; an order awaiting a manual payment should not get a label. Address validation before purchase avoids paying for a label that will be returned. After the batch, tracking numbers should flow back to each order and trigger the shipping confirmation email.

Run batches at fixed times each day and publish the cut-off at checkout, so customers know when an order will ship.

How Torva OS handles it

Torva OS batch shipping buys labels only for paid orders through the merchant’s own EasyPost account, returns tracking to each order automatically and produces a pick list and shipping list for the batch.
