Use names that describe the choice
A shipping option needs a recognizable label, price and any supported delivery estimate. Separate your processing time from the carrier’s transit time. “Ships in two days” and “arrives in two days” describe different promises.
Avoid offering choices the operation cannot fulfill. If a destination is outside your service area, explain that before payment instead of accepting the order and improvising afterward.
Test a small address matrix
Use an ordinary domestic address, an unsupported destination and an incomplete address. Add baskets below, at and above any free-shipping threshold. Change the address after selecting a rate and check that the selection still applies.
Example: free shipping begins at $150. A $160 basket qualifies before a discount, but your policy may use the discounted subtotal. A $20 discount exposes whether the rule and the displayed total agree. Choose and document the intended behavior.
- Check the selected rate in the order summary.
- Confirm tax and discounts use the intended amounts.
- Test returning from checkout to the cart.
- Check whether express options remain available above the free threshold.
Keep the policy and checkout in agreement
Publish the destinations, processing schedule and support route you actually operate. A well-written shipping page cannot fix a checkout that offers different rates.
In Torva, review the store’s configured shipping behavior with the product and order records. Theme presentation is only one part of the test; verify the amount saved on the resulting order.
