Create one approved reference
Choose the container, camera angle, label placement, lighting and background before producing the full catalog. Check the reference at the small size customers will actually see in a product grid. Tiny decorative detail rarely survives there.
Keep the original logo and editable label artwork available. If an image contains text, compare that text with the product record. A convincing rendering can still have the wrong product name or quantity.
Make consistency measurable
Give the photographer or image workflow a simple specification: container centered, cap fully visible, common bottom baseline and enough breathing room for alternate crops. Decide whether backgrounds are transparent or an intentional solid color.
Example: one image has a white rectangle while the rest use transparency. It may look fine on a white page and become obvious on a warm or dark theme. Test the same assets across light and dark surfaces before accepting them.
- Match the product and variant on every label.
- Avoid baking prices or promotional claims into images.
- Provide meaningful alternative text in the product record.
- Keep an original master alongside smaller web versions.
Separate presentation from documentation
A styled product image is not a COA, proof of testing or a picture of the customer’s exact lot. Keep original documents in the documentation workflow. Do not add invented lot or test details to make an image appear more credible.
Torva’s demos use synthetic Aster Research imagery. A merchant’s final assets need their own review before publishing; automated branded-image generation remains in development.
