Store policies
Write the four policy pages every store needs — shipping, returns, privacy and terms — or have Torva draft them from your own trading details.

What this does
Your four policy pages: shipping, returns, privacy and terms. They are storefront pages, not settings — customers read them before they buy, and payment providers read them before they approve you. Store Health flags them while they are empty for exactly that reason.
Before you start
Fill in Settings → General first: your business name, legal name, support email, support phone and business address. Torva writes your policies from those details, so a policy written before them has gaps where your own trading information should be.
Decide two things:
- Your returns window — how many days a customer has to start a return.
- Whether your products are supplied for laboratory research use only. This one changes the terms materially: it adds a use restriction and removes any medical claim, so Torva never guesses it.
Steps
- Open Storefront and choose Policies. Each of the four shows Written or Not written.
- To have Torva write them: tick the research-use box if it applies, then choose Write all four (or Write the missing policies). Anything you have already written is left exactly as it is — the writer only fills blanks.
- Read each one through. Open the disclosure under Policies to see the saved text.
- To edit or write your own, choose Edit policies. That opens Studio on the footer, where the four pages live.
- Publish your storefront. Policies are part of your draft until you do.
What happens next
Published policies appear as links in your storefront footer, and shipping and terms are also linked from checkout. Changing a policy changes what customers see as soon as you publish; it does not change orders already placed under the old wording.
Common problems
I cannot find Policies in Settings. There is no Policies tab in Settings. Policies are pages on your shop, so they are in Storefront → Policies.
Store Health says "4 of 4 policies are empty" but I wrote them. They are still in the draft. Publish your storefront.
The drafts have my old business name in them. Torva writes a policy from your details at the moment you ask. Correct them in Settings → General, then edit the policy text — rewriting does not overwrite a policy that already has content.
Is this legal advice? No. These are a plain-English starting point that describes how your store actually works. Read them, and take advice if you sell into a regulated category or outside your own country.
Still stuck?
Ask Torva from inside your account. It knows everything in this article and can also see what your own store is currently doing, so it can answer for your situation rather than in general.
