What it means for a research store
An RUO statement is only as credible as everything around it. Regulators and payment processors look at the whole presentation: product names, descriptions, images, FAQs, blog posts, social accounts and customer emails. A disclaimer in the footer does not neutralise a product page that describes benefits, dosing or results in people.
In practice, RUO positioning means describing materials by what they are (identity, specification, form, storage and documentation), keeping claims to what the laboratory results show, avoiding drug brand names and therapeutic language, and not providing use instructions for people. Many stores also ask visitors to acknowledge research-only terms before browsing, through an age and research-use gate.
RUO is not a licence or a certification, and it does not make a product lawful to sell everywhere. It is one part of how a store presents itself honestly. Merchants remain responsible for the laws that apply to them and should take legal advice for their jurisdiction. This glossary is general information, not legal advice.
How Torva OS handles it
Every Torva OS storefront includes a research-use gate, and the Desk includes claim scanning (Torva Watch), a policy reviewer and product identity review that preserves factual identification. These are review aids, not legal advice or processor-approval guarantees. See the RUO disclaimer template.
